1998 Season Moved into the cleanup spot and immediately became a team leader as he led the club in home runs (44), RBI (121) and slugging percentage (.595)...Set a Braves franchise record for homers by a first baseman by hitting his 39th 8/21 vs. SD, eclipsing Joe Adcock's mark of 38 set in 1956...His 121 RBI also set a franchise mark for first basemen, bettering Dan Brouthers 118 in 1889 for the then Boston Beaneaters...First player to hit at least 40 HR in consecutive years for 2 different teams, had 41 last year for Colorado... Collected at least 100 RBI for the 4th straight season, starting at age 34...Has 411 RBI over past three seasons (150 in 1996 and 140 in 1997), becoming the first National League player since the St. Louis Cardinals' Ducky Medwick accumulated 414 from 1936-38 to have at least 400 over three consecutive seasons...Finished the season ranked 16th with 1921 hits, T10th with 332 HR, ninth with 1172 RBI and second with 1615 strikeouts among active players...Also currently ranks second among active players and T18 all-time with 137 HBP; Craig Biggio is the active leader with 142...Set the modern franchise record for HBP (25)...The franchise mark of 29 is held by Tommy Tucker in 1891...Compiled three double digit hitting streaks during the year: 14-game from 8/13-28 (19 x 54, .351, 4 HR, 15 RBI); matched career best in 1993 with a 15-game streak from 4/23-5/8 (24 x 56, .429, 5 HR, 11 RBI); a 13-game streak from 7/28-8/12 (16 x 44, .364, 3 HR, 7 RBI)...
