1999 Season Reached double digit wins (14) for the 11th consecutive season, missing only in his first full season in 1988 when he won only 7...Lowest win total since the '94 strike season when he won 13 but won 11 of his last 15 decisions over 23 games (11-4, 3.68, 156.2 IP, 170 H, 64 ER, 54 BB, 98 K)…Braves have won 10 of his last 13 starts and 17 of 22 since June 15...Over his first 12 starts through June 4 at Boston, Tom was 3-7 with a 5.00 ERA…He allowed five ER or more four times his first 10 starts, as many times as that happened all of 1998…He pitched on three days rest for the first time in five years in his start against Boston July 10, when he allowed just one run in 9.0 innings…He gave up an Atlanta-record 15 hits in a 5-2 loss to the Marlins July 6…The nine ER he allowed in 2.2 IP May 24 at Milwaukee in a 10-7 loss were a career high…Before that game Tom hadn’t been knocked out of a contest in 2.2 innings or less since a 2.0-inning effort in a 7-5 loss to the Dodgers Aug. 19, 1993, in Atlanta…The May 24 game also represented his 3rd shortest outing of the 1990’s, and matched the 9th shortest of his career…Glavine is the winningest left-hander in baseball over the past 11 years with 178 victories, and trails only Greg Maddux in wins among all pitchers from 1991 to the present (161-154)…Glavine is 154-75 (.672) with a 3.09 ERA (692 ER in 2013.2 IP) since the start of 1991…This year marked the second 0-3 start of his career; the only other time came in 1988…The Braves scored 180 runs in Glavine’s 35 starts (5.1 runs/game)...Posted his first season with an ERA over 4.00 since 1990 (4.28) and only third time in a full season, 1988 (4.56)...Allowed a career-high 259 hits (1st in the majors) along with 115 runs and 107 earned runs...Only the second time in his career that he allowed over 100 ER (1990 - 102)...Averaged 109 pitches per start, 6th most in the NL...Among active players ranked 5th with 187 career wins, 7th with 399 games started, 8th with 2659.2 IP, t8th with 18 shutoutsand 9th with 900 BB...Since 1987 has induced 249 GDIPs to tie for 5th. 1999 Post Season Highlights: Division Series: Received ND in Game 3 (6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K)…Departed contest with 3-2 lead; Braves won, 5-3, in 12 innings…Remained undefeated (2-0) in 5 DS starts with a 2.48 ERA …NLCS: Blanked Mets over 7.0 innings to notch the win in Game 3 at NY (7.0 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K)…World Series: Gave valiant flu-weakened effort in Game 3 at NY, receiving ND (7.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 3 K)…Victimized by 3 homers, including Chuck Knoblauch’s 2-run, 315-ft. home run in the bottom of the 8th, tying the score at 5-5.
